# Connect to Claude

> Add Outbox to Claude as a connector. Sign in once in your browser, with no API keys or terminal commands

## Overview

Add Outbox to Claude as a **custom connector** and Claude can work in your Outbox account from any chat: build and edit agents, run workflows, search conversations, send messages and calls, and pull reports.

You sign in on an Outbox page in your browser. Claude never sees your password. It gets a token that renews itself, and you can disconnect at any time.

This works in Claude on the web, the Claude desktop app, Claude on mobile (once it's added), and Claude Code.

<Note>
  You'll need your Outbox email and password. If you normally sign in with
  Google, use **Forgot password** on the Outbox sign-in page to set a password
  first.
</Note>

## Add it to Claude (web and desktop)

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Connectors">
    In Claude, go to **Settings → Connectors** and click **Add custom connector**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the server URL">
    Fill in:

    | Field | Value |
    | - | - |
    | Name | `Outbox` |
    | Remote MCP server URL | `https://api.getoutbox.ai/mcp` |

    Leave **Advanced settings** empty. Claude registers itself automatically.
    Click **Add**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in">
    Click **Connect**. A sign-in page opens. Enter your Outbox email and
    password and click **Sign in and connect**.

    You're sent back to Claude and the connector shows as connected.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use it in a chat">
    Start a new chat. Open the tools menu (the **+** or sliders icon under the
    message box) and make sure **Outbox** is switched on. Then just ask:

    > List my agents and tell me which ones had failed calls this week.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  On a Claude **Team** or **Enterprise** plan, an owner first adds the connector
  under **Organization settings → Connectors**. Each member then clicks
  **Connect** and signs in with their own Outbox account, so everyone sees only
  what their own login can reach.
</Tip>

## Add it to Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http outbox https://api.getoutbox.ai/mcp
```

Then start Claude Code, run `/mcp`, choose **outbox** and select **Authenticate**. Your browser opens the same sign-in page. Once you've signed in, return to the terminal and you're connected.

<Note>
  `--transport http` is MCP's Streamable HTTP transport, not unencrypted HTTP.
  The connection is HTTPS because the URL is. Add `--scope user` before the
  name to make it available in every project, not just the current one.
</Note>

<Tip>
  Want slash commands like `/outbox-cli:outbox-campaign` too? Install the
  [Claude Code Plugin](/claude-code-plugin) as well. The connector alone gives
  Claude every tool, and the plugin adds guided commands on top.
</Tip>

## What you can ask

> Create an outbound sales agent for Acme Roofing. Friendly, qualifies budget and timeline, books a 15-minute discovery call.

> Add every contact tagged "reactivation" that hasn't been called yet to the AI Reactivation Sequence workflow.

> Pull the last 30 calls for the Gamma Plumbing booking agent and tell me why it keeps losing on price.

> Text Jane Smith that her appointment moved to 3pm.

## Agency accounts

If you sign in with an agency account, Claude can reach every client under your agency. Tell it which one to work in:

> Switch me over to Delta Roofing.

Claude remembers the active client for your connection until you switch again. You can also name the client in a request: *"How many calls did Beta Dental take yesterday?"*

## Security

* **Your password stays with Outbox.** You type it on an Outbox page, never into Claude.
* **Claude holds a token, not your login.** It's replaced every hour and lasts up to 180 days before you'll be asked to sign in again.
* **Your access, nothing more.** Claude can do what your Outbox login can do, and no more.
* **Disconnect any time.** In Claude, go to **Settings → Connectors → Outbox → Disconnect**. Changing your Outbox password also disconnects every connected app.
